Once upon a time, in New York City a fairytale wedding occured. The sun was shining and the sky was clear and blue. The bride and groom were to be married at the Essex House right off Central Park. The bride carried a lush bouquet of all white peonies, caramel garden roses, creamy gardenias, and ivory vendela roses; it was truly the perfect accessory for a princess bride.

As the guests arrived, they were immediately awestruck by a enchanting camellia tree with all beautiful hanging crystals and the escort cards dripping down from the branches. The tree was growing from a lush mound of all white hydrangea and roses. Nestled in the mound were glimmering votive candles in antiqued holders.

Once the guests had received their escort cards, they were invited into the salon for the ceremony where they were greeted with a modern romantic decor. Lining the aisle were all lucite pedestals accented with a bed of white hydrangea with staggering height illuminating pillar candles enclosed in glass. The bride and groom exchanged vows in front of a billowy sheer drape and 4 tall classic compositions in all white, cream, and champagne tones placed atop a crystal trumpet vase sitting atop lucite pedestals. Thus creating a dreamy and ethereal setting.

Once the officiant announced them as husband and wife, it was time to celebrate. The dinner reception room was filled with all round tables dressed in champagne satin clothes and accented with gold beaded overlays. Adorning each table was a lush and abundant composition of all romantic blooms in delicious cream and champagne tones designed in a crystal trumpet vase with a string of ivory spray roses with a large crystal dripping in the vase’s interior. Surrounding the base of the vase were 3 illuminating floating candles placed in pedestal bowls interspersed between timeless petite flower compositions designed in cut crystal bowls. Thus creating the perfect finishing details for a setting depicted for a prince and princess in the most romantic of fairytales one can imagine.

Are you having an outdoor garden party or maybe even a BBQ and are looking for a fresh idea to dress up your tablescape? Gather a variety of blooms from your garden, farmer’s market, or your local nursery and place them in a homemade birch covered vase. Here are some of our industry secrets to make your next party a one of a kind fete.

Materials:
Birch Bark
Scissors
Cylinder Vases
Hot Glue Gun
Brown Leather Rope or rafia twine
Your choice of flowers

Instructions:
1.Wrap birch around the vase to measure how much you’ll need for each vase leaving about a 2 in seam of bark overlapping. Glue the birch together.

2. Once the birch is wrapped on each vase, cut enough leather rope or rafia twine to wrap the vase twice and then tie with a bow.

3. After the vases have been complete, add your favorite flowers (we chose a variety of seasonal white blooms). The overall look of the flowers should be airy – make sure to include green accents – our favorite is scented geranium!

To complete this tablescape, collect a crisp white linen cloth, mason jars, galvanized tins, and rattan chargers. If the party is in the evening intersperse pillar candles enclosed in lanterns between the flower compositions to create an enchanting finishing detail.

The Horticulutural Society of New York hosts the much-anticipated spring gala of flowers and design annually, and this year their theme was “Legends, Myths, and Fairy Tales”. A lot of designers went with a garden theme for their tablescapes but we decided to go the magical route with fairy tale inspired colors like delicate pinks, pretty peaches, soft lavenders, creams, golds, and icy blues. Tissue-like blooms were used at the base of our lavish centerpiece and hundreds of pastel ribbons cascaded down to give our table a lavish yet delicate faity-tale ending.
